  • Private Vlans

A private vlan allows two networks to exchange traffic over a private virtual interface.  This is useful for exchanging transit traffic over MidWest-IX, enabling QOS for a dedicated link, or exchanging traffic privately. Private vlans are between two customers on the exchange and are not on the public fabric. On private vlans we allow you to run protocols, such as MPLS, which are not allowed on the public fabric. If you need more than two peers we offer a closed peer group.

    Private Peering

Private peering is available over a dedicated Private Vlan.  This allows a direct peering between two hosts on a dedicated vlan.  Partcipants can agree on policies and ways of interconnection.

    Remote Peering

Remote peering allows connection to the shared peering fabric over a dedicated link.  This is useful for customers who operate their own data center or have their own equipment located somewhere else. Remote peering is established on a case-by-case basis.

    Closed Peer Groups

Closed peer groups allow 3 or more customers to exchange peering information on a private peering fabric.  this is useful for industry specific sectors such as healthcare.  Many times these business sectors require extra levels of accounting and security.

    Wave and other services

MidWest-IX works closely with our solutions partners to help with a complete solution.  Interconnection can be a very complicated sea and we can help you navigate it.  While, we are not a wave or IP seller we can help you integrate this into your overall peering solution. Other solutions available through solutions partners are VOIP, cloud services, co-location, hosting, and IP services to name just a few.  These partners leverage the connectivity of the exchange to provide services.
